This Unesa Program Creates a Disability Friendly Campus Environment!

HAI-Online.com - The State University of Surabaya (Unesa) provides equal rights for persons with disabilities, from providing jobs to schools or colleges with a disability-friendly environment.

Through the Unesa Disability Inclusion Metric (UDIM) program. This program is a universal parameter of the accessibility level of persons with disabilities in institutions or organizations.

This UDIM was launched to measure disability inclusion in organizations, as well as being the first disability inclusion metric in Indonesia, and as a reference for world organizations.

Head of the Center for the Study of Disability Services (PSLD) Unesa, Prof. Budiyanto said that currently Unesa and various other parties are focusing on developing indicators.

Development of UDIM is aimed at providing indicators as well as measuring the quality level of disability inclusion in an organization.

Prof. Budiyanto also hopes that this can be a reference indicator for the development of disability inclusion quality and an evaluation material for the quality level of disability inclusion in an organization.

"This is an important reference or indicator for organizations or institutions including universities in the world. After discussion with the team, experts, users and partners and based on existing input, a revised draft will be launched in the near future," he explained, launching from Unesa page.

Create a disability-friendly environment

Unesa's Deputy Chancellor for Planning and Cooperation, Sujarwanto explained, the development of UDIM is part of Unesa's commitment to creating a disability-friendly environment in various institutions and people from Indonesia to the world.

According to him, this is one of the major breakthroughs made by the 'One Step Ahead' campus to improve the quality of accessibility for persons with disabilities in various fields.

This disability empowerment is one of Unesa's flagship programs. This is supported by many physical resources and qualified human resources.

The experts in the field of disability owned by Unesa have been recognized nationally and internationally.

The parties involved in the agenda are the National Committee for Disability, the Education Office of East Java, the Center for Disability Services at Brawijaya University, the Association of Indonesian Special Education Professionals in East Java, and other partners.
